Further and Higher Education Partnership Developments

Further and Higher Education Spring/Summer Conference Date for your Diary

Dear Colleagues,

Please accept this email as an initial notification of the Black Country Partnership for Learning’s Spring/Summer conference on the theme of Further and Higher Education Partnership Developments with a confirmed date of Friday 25th May 2012.

We have booked the Hawthorns Conference Centre at West Bromwich FC, near Birmingham City Centre, for this event.

We already have commitments to speak from the following:

Professor David Green, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Worcester, Chair of Universities West Midlands and UUK member of the Advisory Committee on Degree Awarding Powers

Professor Ian Oakes, Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Wolverhampton and a leading member of the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership;

John Davies, Head of Higher Education Developments at Pearson;

Peter Crisp, Chief Executive of BPP Law School and Adam Temple, Managing Director of BPP’s Birmingham centre

It's intended also that we'll have some practical case studies from a number of local HEIs and FECs of developments designed to address the emerging realities of post-Browne higher education.

Other speakers will include a representative from BIS and the Association of Colleges as well an FE college which has gained Foundation degree awarding powers, so we hope that this will make the event a high-quality conference you will want to attend at an accessible venue and at a reasonable cost

BCPL is a network of FE, HE and private training providers in the Black Country and, partly as a legacy of work done under the auspices of the HEFCE- funded Birmingham and Black Country Lifelong Learning Network, we are able to address key issues, interests and concerns for senior managers, practitioners and staff within a wider partnership locally, regionally and nationally.

Delegate places cost £95, which includes lunch and refreshments.

Please put this date in your diary. We will be using an online booking system for registration and details of this will come out in our next email.

If you have any questions regarding this notification, please email me by return or telephone on the mobile number below.

Kind regards,

Patrick
