fabric - Creative Pathways

Curriculum Development Project

Fabric is an arts charity, membership organisation and the arts development organisation for Bradford district with more than 1200 members from a wide range of disciplines. It supports the development of creative practitioners and organisations and seeks out and creates opportunities for their work to be seen. Fabric is based at the Yorkshire Craft Centre at Bradford College and works closely with the School of Arts & Media, connecting both the arts and creative sector with learners.

The project funded by West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network (WYLLN)

This project capitalises on fabric’s location and engagement with the sector. At its core it is a programme which aims to prepare students studying arts subjects at degree and masters level for the transition from student to creative practitioner in their particular area or art form.

There are a series of seminars aimed at final year HE students at Bradford College studying Art & Design, Fine Art, Graphic Media, Fashion, Textiles and Photography offering information, advice and guidance to help and support them towards becoming creative practitioners. These seminars facilitate networking opportunities and discussion which again are key features of the freelance world.

These seminars have had inspirational advice from six successful artists
