fdf Endorsement Service
Posted on: Thursday, 4th February 2010
The fdf Endorsement Service has been designed, and is operated, by fdf, (Foundation Degree Forward) in collaboration with interested sector bodies. The Service: § Provides information and guidance to education providers, employers and sector bodies to facilitate the development and delivery of quality work-based learning, higher education provision § Assists higher education providers in evidencing and demonstrating that their work-based learning programmes (particularly Foundation degrees) meet employer and sector needs § Highlights innovatory practice in higher education level work-based learning
Endorsement takes place at the request of the education provider. Where feasible, it is linked to a planned quality assurance activity. The process involves the payment of a nominal fee which gives access to a detailed route map to inform the development of work-based learning, higher education programmes and to the endorsement process. Endorsement is carried out through a visit approach, reviewing the evidence provided by the institution(s) within a context of positive enquiry. This is undertaken by two, fdf-trained endorsement consultants (sector specialist and higher education specialist) considering how the programme evidences three Impact Factors: § Employer Involvement § Capability and Capacity § Development and Delivery The approach recognises that high quality work-based learning programmes can be delivered through diverse approaches reflecting evolving specifications and workforce development requirements. fdf is happy to support requests for endorsement of groups or families of programmes and can adjust fee structures accordingly.
