Mapping and Promoting HE Progression Routes for Advanced Apprentices

Status:
Currently active
Completion Date:

LLN:

Description:

The objective of this project is to map, authenticate and promote the higher education progression routes available to advanced apprentices in the East Midlands.

The rationale for this project derives from recent research that shows many advanced apprentices want to gain higher level skills, and are capable of HE study, but face inadequate information, advice and guidance on progression opportunities. Against this is the back-drop of continued growth in the number of advanced apprenticeship places and a wide desire, expressed in Higher Ambitions, Unleashing Ambitions and Progress through Apprenticeships, the UK Skills Commission report, to see more apprentices progress to HE.

Outcomes:

The main outcomes will comprise a dedicated search engine on the Your Future website, which should be live by the close of April, a range of materials aimed at key groups of influencers as well as the apprentices themselves, and two regional events scheduled for May and June.   A final report, reviewing and evaluating the project, and making recommendations for those interested in undertaking a similar venture, will be completed by the end of July.  This will be available from the Skills for Communities LLN and Aimhigher in the East Midlands websites: http://www.le.ac.uk/ssclln/index.html; www.ahem.org.uk.
