FUTURE MEETINGS
Next meeting planned for May 2008 to include reference to a proposed HEFCE publication concerning the development of Progression Accords/Agreements.
SUMMARY OF TOPICS RAISED AND PROPOSALS FOR FURTHER WORK
1. Update on progression Accord/Agreement practice from LLNs including:
- Interpreting ‘guaranteed places’
- Links to existing processes such as Compacts
- Identifying the benefits of Progression Accords/Agreements
- Supporting and monitoring implementation
2. Building support for Progression Accords/Agreements – explaining and promoting the features, advantages and benefits to a wider audience.
Second workshop/symposium - 23 October 2007:
1. Perspectives from four established LLNs (GMSA, MOVE, Sussex Learning Network, Western Vocational) on the practical experience of developing and implementing Progression Accords/Agreements including;
- The different context of each LLN
- The Concept – how LLNs have understood and interpreted the idea and purpose of - Progression Accords/Agreements
- The models – the model or models LLNs have developed or are developing
- The practice of implementation and monitoring
- Analysis, evaluation and next steps – some reflection on how things have gone and might be improved/developed
2. Open discussion chaired by Kevin Whitston (Head of Widening Participation, HEFCE)
- Questions raised in relation to the models and ideas presented
- The experience of other LLNs
- Common features, benefits and issues
- Possible solutions to identified issues
3. It was confirmed that HEFCE would be producing a publication following the outcomes of the symposium that would report current practice, issues and possible solutions related to the implementation and development of progression Accords/Agreements.
4. MOVE would also be leading a follow up workshop at the LLN Forum national Conference.
